Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the top 3 grape varietals grown in the Oak Knoll District AVA. Ours comes from a small 1.7 acre vineyard, owned and farmed by the Clift family, with oversight and consulting provided by winemaker Ron Vuylsteke. The 2014 vintage was hand-picked on September 29, 2014, and crushed the same day to begin maceration (juice, seed & skin contact) which lasted for 28 days before being pressed and transferred to oak barrels for malolactic fermentation followed by 24 months of barrel aging. The extended maceration produced a fruity, dark garnet wine with medium tannins. Typically rich in dark fruits, this vintage features ripe blackberry and boysenberry with mocha and hints of vanilla on the palate and a touch of leather on the finish.
